AP, CLEP and IB Credit
Ouachita grants degree credit on the basis of examinations offered through Advanced Placement (AP), the College Level Examination Program (CLEP), and the International Baccalaureate Program (IB).
No more than 30 hours of credit by examination may be counted toward a degree, and no more than 9 of these may be counted in the major, nor 6 in the minor. For courses passed by examination, credit is recorded, but not a grade.
A student may not receive credit by examination in a course if more advanced work
has been taken in that subject, or if a grade below C has been recorded in a course
which is prerequisite to the course in which credit is sought.
AP Credit
Applies to students entering Fall 2019 or later

* A qualifying score on any of the designated science exams earns four hours of credit which substitutes for CORE 2334: Scientific Inquiry for non-majors. A qualifying score on a second exam in a different scientific domain (i.e., Biology, Chemistry, Physics) earns an additional three hours of credit which substitutes for CORE 3023: Scientific Connections.
CLEP Credit
In order for CLEP credit to be accepted for degree requirements, the student must submit test scores for review prior to achieving senior standing (i.e., earning 89 or more credit hours).
Tests may be scheduled and taken at any CLEP Center. Official score reports should be sent to the Office of Academic Affairs at Ouachita, center number 6549.
Credit by CLEP examination will not be given for a course in which more advanced work
has been taken.
Many professional schools (for example, College of Medicine, University of Arkansas
for Medical Sciences) do not accept CLEP credit for their required pre-matriculation
courses: English, math, biology, chemistry, or physics.
