About
I have been married to my OBU sweetheart, Merrilee, for over two decades. We have
four future Tigers who call us "Mom" and "Dad." They are a source of joy for us. In
addition to my love of family, I also love teaching students, especially at OBU. God
has apparently enlarged my heart through the years because I also love local churches.
The church is God's plan after all, and he works in them and through them to accomplish
his purposes. These roles - husband, father, teacher, minister - provide a good sense
of who I am.
Fun Facts
What do you like most about your field?
Participating in the "becoming" of students might be my favorite aspect of my career.
As evidenced both in my own life and in the lives of so many students I have experienced
through the years, the changes that take place between the ages of 18 and 22 are remarkable.
In this role, I get to see and to some degree shape those changes in students' lives.
What a privilege! And if that was not enough, these same students return throughout
the years following sharing and showing off their experiences for good or ill, their
accomplishments, their spouses, their children, and most of all who the Lord has made
them to be.
The elder says it well, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking
in the truth" (3 Jn 4). This joy is mine year after year.
