About
Carrie started working at Ouachita in 2018 and serves as the Director of Development.
She came to Ouachita after serving as the Director of Institutional Advancement at
Henderson State University. Previous to Henderson, she worked at Southern Bancorp
as a community development officer. As a student she was on The Signal staff and a
member of the EEE women’s social club. One of her favorite Ouachita memories was traveling
on the European Study Tour with Tom Auffenburg and Terry and Kathy Carter.
Carrie’s husband, Carey, is an Associate Professor of Visual Arts at Ouachita and
they have two children. Their son, Jacob, is a 2016 graduate of Ouachita. He and his
wife, Brooke, are teachers at Arkadelphia High School. Their daughter, Emilee, is
a 2021 Ouachita graduate and currently pursuing a Master of Science Degree in Communication
Sciences and Disorders at UAMS.
Fun Facts
What do you like most about your field?
Scholarships made it possible for my brother and me to graduate from Ouachita, so
I understand the importance of raising money for current and future Ouachita Tigers.
Most of our students receive some sort of financial aid and Ouachita is fortunate
to have a strong network of alumni and friends who want to give back to help. Gifts
to Ouachita create opportunities and possibilities for students at Ouachita—I love
getting to be a small part of that!
What is your favorite place on campus and why?
I love Tiger Tunes so my favorite place on campus is Jones Performing Arts Center.
I attended my first show in 1988 to watch my brother, Chris Rinehart, in the Beta
Beta Deodorant show. I was in the winning EEE Skelton show in 1992 (giving a solid
performance on the back row) which was the first year Tunes was held in JPAC. My family
and I have attended almost every Tunes show since 1988 and I was thrilled when my
daughter was in the winning EEE Emergency Responders show in 2018. Some of my favorite
Tunes shows include the Sigma Alpha Sigma Triangles, the Tri Chi Crayons, the Kappa
Chi Coal Miners, and the 4th Floor Guys Security Guards. But the best show in Tunes
history, in my opinion, is Student Life’s Freshman Year show performed in 2014—#TigerforLife.
