RA Selection

Climbing Wall

One thing that each Ouachita student shares is the experience of living in ‘the dorm.’  ResLife is part of everyone’s life at Ouachita.  We’re looking for people who want to help shape this essential part of Ouachita’s community.

You might think that being an RA is all about toilet paper and being the decibel-police.  While RAs occasionally deal TP and douse noise-fires, they do much, much more.  In fact, the benefits of being an RA are enormous.

RAs are challenged to live their faith in Christ everyday as they live and work with students.  One of the benefits of being an RA is that you will learn about yourself.  Through one-on-one mentor relationships with your HD or RD, you will be challenged not just in the way you serve, but in your personal growth as well.

Another benefit is that RAs learn about working with and serving others.  You will grow close to your staff team as you share the load of serving others.

Finally, our goal is that every student who lives in a Ouachita residence hall would grow.  Our RAs have opportunity to help facilitate the growth of each student on their hall.

So while the commitment and sacrifices of being an RA are significant, the rewards of growing and seeing other students grow are priceless.  We’re excited that you’re interested in joining us as we facilitate the growth of students.

The Application Process

The application process begins early each spring semester.  Be looking for information by email and other announcements.  More information will also be posted here as January approaches.

Until then, we'd encourage you to explore the ResLife web-pages, the RA job description, and talk with ResLife staff-ers in your building.
