Special Collections and Archives serves as a regional center for local and family history research. Special Collections acts as the official repository for the records of the Clark County Historical Association, as well as materials donated to them. Additionally, we hold many official Clark County records. Many of the earliest county records, including probate, criminal, civil, chancery and tax records are housed in Special Collections. Other types of material held in Special Collections include:
- County historical journals (AR, LA, TX, OK)
- Family and community histories
- Local and regional newspapers
- Cemetery records and indexes
- Census records and indexes
- Obituaries
- Scrapbooks
- Family papers
- Business and organizational records
- Church and association records
- Vertical Files
- Photographs
Through the work of our staff — past and present — and volunteers from the Clark County Historical Association, many of our materials can be searched online by personal name. Guides to archival materials may also be searched or browsed on OBU’s Scholarly Commons.
If you are not finding the materials you need, please contact us at 870-245-5332 or by email, as all of our materials are not yet processed. We are here to help you!
