Where is the retreat?
The CM retreat takes place at Camp Paron, about an hour from campus. Here is their website. We’ll distribute maps and get directions to those who register.
What happens at the retreat?
We have times of worship and three slots for breakout sessions you get to choose from. We also have time set aside for personal devotions and a game time for everyone to hang out on Friday night. The retreat is the best way to learn about different ways to connect with CM and to meet our ministry leaders.
What’s the registration deadline?
We prefer you register by Sunday, August 18. After that, we may be able to add you but spots aren’t guaranteed.
What does my $30 cover?
Your registration fee helps pay for program costs, 2 meals & housing (air-conditioned). We will carpool to the camp and rides will be available. Retreat participants can get a CM shirt for $5 (half the normal price). You can pay for that when you register online or at the retreat. The first 50 to register get the t-shirt for free!
What is housing like?
The normal registration fee covers cabin housing with bunk beds, air-conditioning, and bathrooms (you provide the towels & bedding). For an additional $15 per person, we have a limited number of spots in the camp site hotel. These will be 2 people to a room with their own bathroom and towels/bedding provided. If available, you can select this housing option when you register online.
When do we leave?
We will meet at 3:15pm on Friday and caravan from the lower SPEC parking lot. We hope to pull out by around 3:30pm
What if I don’t have a car?
It’s not a problem. There will be room to ride with other students. If you do have a car and are willing to drive, please help us by letting a couple of people ride with you!
What if I have to come late?
Just let us know when you’ll be arriving and if you need directions. We have groups come a little later than the rest every year (band, athletic teams, etc.)
When will we be done?
The retreat ends by 11:30am on Saturday. Students are usually back to OBU by 1pm.
What about food?
We will eat dinner on Friday and breakfast on Saturday at the camp. We’ll have snacks & drinks available for sale late on Friday night.
How should I pack?
There is no need to dress up. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a light jacket/sweatshirt. You do need to bring your own bedding or sleeping bag & pillow, plus a towel. We also recommend your Bible & a little cash if you want extra snacks.
