Christian Focus Week is a time of spiritual emphasis designed to inspire, challenge, teach and equip students, faculty and staff to be disciples of Jesus Christ. Classes are cancelled for one hour each morning for worship times and the university calendar is reserved to help us renew students’ vision of God and reach out to people on campus with the Gospel.
In addition to the main worship times, we offer breakout sessions during the afternoon and events for the evenings.
This year’s theme is “Walk Worthy” based on Ephesians 4:1-3
Our prayer for Christian Focus Week is that our campus would grasp how great the love of God is, and how we can walk in a way that speaks the truth of the gospel in love.
In Ephesians, Paul reminds us that God took the first step to us in is his great love while we were dead in sin. He has called and blessed and saved us.
In light of the good news, Ephesians 4:1-3 calls us to walk in a way that’s worthy of what we have received. As a picture of daily life, how we walk matters greatly.
We walk, not in a rush or annoyed, but patiently, as the Father has worked patiently to fix a broken world.
We walk, not arrogantly, but with humility as Jesus humbly put others above himself.
We walk, not alone, but following Jesus with others, as the Spirit unites us into one body. We can only walk worthy when we walk together.
I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:1-3)
