About
Rachel Gaddis has served as editorial coordinator since October 2018. A 2016 summa cum laude Ouachita graduate, she worked for Ouachita's Office of Communications and Speer Writing
Center while a student and also spent a semester in Chicago working in corporate and
public relations for the Easterseals corporate office. Upon graduation, Gaddis served
as content manager for the communications team at the Arkansas Baptist State Convention
in Little Rock, leading their social media, blog and newsletter strategies. She happily returned to campus in 2018 to work for the Office of Communications &
Marketing, an office she has long been proud and fond of as an alumna and former student
worker.
Fun Facts
What do you like most about your field?
I often have the privilege, and good excuse!, to ask questions of people I admire
because I've been tasked with telling their story. I absolutely love that part of
my job. In writing about someone, the work they do or the things they are passionate
about, I'm trying to capture that person accurately and also have this responsibility
to introduce them properly to the reader. I personally believe every person is interesting
and has a story to tell!
What is your favorite place on campus and why?
While it's a cliché answer, I've always loved the center of campus – the area that
stretches from the Tiger statue to Evans Student Center. No matter the season, it
is a beautiful walk, and I sometimes think about how many generations of students
and family members (including my own) who have walked that same path during such an
impressionable time in our lives.
