Ouachita's Community Outreach Program through English (COPE) links certified OBU students
to English language learning within the community.
OBU volunteers gain valuable insight into other cultures while assisting those who
are struggling with the English language. Ouachita students and their community partners
meet for English lessons weekly using material provided by the Elrod Center and the
Grant Center for International Education's English as Second Language program. Information
on American citizenship also is included in the program on demand.
The Elrod Center partners with the Arkansas Baptist State Convention's Missions Leadership
Team and the OBU Grant Center for International Education's English as a Second Language
Program to provide training workshops for tutors as well as lesson material.
