International Student Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded until the residential component of the student’s first degree is complete, up to a maximum of 8 semesters. (Semester scholarship amounts will not be advanced or disbursed early due to completion of the degree in less than 8 semesters.) OBU’s application for admission is required for consideration.

  • Tuition: (10-18 hours) $27,280
  • Room & Board: $8,000 (includes unlimited meal plan)
  • Fees: $620 

Fees include: In-room cable TV, high speed Internet, local telephone service; entertainment events, music & plays; athletic events & use of sporting facilities; lecture series; laundry; yearbook; and university health services.

Federal law requires that all students studying on an F1 student visa provide reasonable evidence that they can pay for the first year of university up front and that they can also pay the fees for the duration of the student’s studies. These additional fees include:

  • Books: (estimated) $1,100
  • Personal: (estimated) $2,500
  • Mandatory health insurance: (annual) $1,100 This will be charged to your student account. 

Total: (per year) $40,500

Costs are subject to change from year to year as determined by the Ouachita Board of Trustees.

Taxes: If your scholarship funds amount to more than the total cost of tuition, fees and books, you may be assessed a 14% federal tax on those excess amounts.

 Please note that international students do NOT pay an out of state fee at Ouachita.

Up to $18,500 per year (for up to 4 years)

International students are eligible for the same amount of merit-based aid as American students. Scholarship amounts are based on either TOEFL or IELTS scores or SAT/ACT scores & high school transcripts. Students whose secondary schools operate on a grading scale other than the American 4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) system must send their scores to either World Education Services, International Education Evaluations or Education Credential Evaluators to receive equivalencies.

  • $12,500 per year available with a transfer GPA between 3.5
  • $10,000 per year available with a transfer GPA between 3.0-3.49
  • $7,500 per year available with a transfer GPA between 2.5-2.99
  • $5,000 per year available with a transfer GPA between 2.0-2.49

This scholarship is available only to international students and is awarded at the discretion of the university. International students planning to study abroad while at Ouachita Baptist University are not eligible.

The average Global Scholarship Award is $5,000 per year for up to 4 years.

*For the purpose of financial aid, international students are classified as those studying on an F1 student visa.

Up to $2,000 ($1,000 per semester, up to 2 semesters) 

Students must be enrolled full-time in Ouachita’s English as a Second Language program.

Up to $5,000 per year (for up to 4 years)
