Eight student-athletes from Ouachita Baptist University have been named to the Gulf South Conference’s 2009 Spring All-Academic Teams, including three Ouachita baseball players, two softball players, two golfers and one member of OBU’s women’s tennis team.
A total of 40 Ouachita student-athletes also were named to the GSC’s Academic Honor Roll.
The All-Academic Team is selected by GSC sports information directors and faculty athletic representatives. Nominated student-athletes must have an overall grade point average of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale for their entire academic career. Other factors include making a significant contribution to one’s team, leadership, community service and extracurricular activities.
Ouachita student-athletes selected for this honor include senior baseball players Jarod Hershberger, Blake Lockwood and Drew Wurzelbacher; senior softball player Emily Matthews and her teammate, sophomore Kristin Rigsbee; junior golfers Robert Greer, who also was named to the All-Academic Team last year, and Dax Demaree; and junior women’s tennis player Thokozile Zulu.
