Below are several scholarships and grants that are not awarded by Ouachita but are available to Ouachita students. You must apply for these scholarships independently. Additionally, we have provided several scholarship search sites that you may wish to use. While Ouachita’s Office of Student Financial Services tries to screen the scholarship sites below, OBU is not responsible for the information contained on these sites nor the validity of the scholarships. Remember, you should never have to pay to apply for a scholarship.

In addition to scholarships and federal loan programs, there are also Alternative Private Loans available for further financial help in paying for college. AR Educational Training Voucher (ETV) Program

The Education Training Voucher (ETV) program awards grants to current and former foster youth to  help pay for college or specialized education. ETV grants are funded by the federal government and  administered by the states. Arkansas Community Foundation-Due dates vary

Arkansas Community Foundation manages more than 200 private scholarship funds created by individuals, families and companies that want to provide a path to higher education for generations to come. These donors determine the size and eligibility criteria for the scholarships they create, and Arkansas Community Foundation manages the scholarship process on their behalf. We accept applications for many of these scholarships each year. Arkansas Extension Homemakers Council(AEHC)- Due March

The AEHC is awarding a $1000 scholarship to a college junior majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences or Human Environmental Science.  Applicants must have completed a minimum of 59 credit hours by the end of the spring 2018 semester. Arkansas Federation of Garden Clubs - Due MAR 1

AFGC awards 1-3 scholarships annually totalling around $3,000.  One AFGC applicant will be submitted for the possibility of National Garden Club Scholarship of $3,500. Applicants must be Arkansas residents who will be Junior or Senior undergraduates in the award year and who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need, as well as showing interest in one of several selected majors.  More information can be obtained by visiting the National Garden Clubs website.

Arkansas Game & Fish Conservation Scholarship - Due in Jan.

Applicants must be Arkansas high school seniors or Arkansas college students pursuing a career in a field related to natural resources conservation with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (4.0 scale). Association of AR Counties - Due MAY 1

Hammons Charitable Foundation Scholarship Program - Due FEB 1

Scholarships are available for students from eastern Arkansas and western Tennessee who will be Freshmen or Sophomores at Ouachita. Preference to active members of a Southern Baptist Church and must have a 2.0 or higher GPA. Applications are available on the http://www.abf.org/. The deadline to apply is February 1st of each year.

Medical Missions Scholarship - Due Feb. 1

The Mickey and Ross Kelder Scholarship Trust - Due in APR

Murray T. Harris Healthcare Scholarship- Due June

The MANA Charitable Board is pleased to offer the Murray T. Harris Healthcare Scholarship for students in allied health programs in Washington and Benton Counties of Arkansas. Three scholarships are awarded each June.

Allied health programs include, but are not limited to radiology technology, clinical laboratory science, nursing, and respiratory therapy. The Scholarship focuses on professions within the healthcare sector that are currently underserved, to help attract qualified candidates in these fields. Pryor Scholarship

Any Garland County, AR, resident who will be attending college in the award year is eligible to apply. Criteria considered includes but is not limited to: financial need, community service or school participation and the ability to succeed. Pryor Scholarship

Arkansas Baptists may apply for this scholarship related to educational expenses for those studying in religious education and/or music in order to serve in international or home mission work of the Southern Baptist Convention. For more information, please contact Vera Clancy at vclancy@absc.org.

Ralph G. Norman Scholarship - Due in April

Arkansas residents with a learning disability who are ineligible for SSI or SSD funding can apply for this scholarship.  For more information please visit the Norman Scholarship website.

Red River Baptist Association Seminary Scholarships - Due JUN 1

Saline County Executive Association Scholarship - Due APR 19

The Saline County Executive Association has established a $1,000 scholarship for the purpose of assisting Saline County students entering their sophmore, junior or senior years of higher education or high school senior who has earned a minimum of 15 hours concurrent college hours, has a 3.0 GPA and will be attending an Arkansas university or college. Single Parent Scholarship Fund- Due date varies

While many students dream of obtaining a college degree, other responsibilities in life sometimes become bigger priorities. This is especially true for single parents who must juggle family and work. Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) is unique to Arkansas. Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s scholarship program for transfer students from community colleges
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program each year awards approximately 50 scholarships to students attending community colleges or two-year institutions in the US and planning to transfer to four-year institutions. James Madison Fellowship - Due on MAR 1
The James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation offers $24,000 James Madison Graduate Fellowships to individuals desiring to become outstanding teachers of the American Constitution at the secondary school level. Fellowship applicants compete only against other applicants from the states of their legal residence.  Generally, one Fellowship per state is awarded each year. Leon Bradley Scholarship Program - Due in May
The Leon Bradley Scholarship Program was established by the American Association of School Personnel Administrators to encourage more minorities or persons of color to enter the teaching profession.  Two scholarships are awarded annually to assist minority college students seeking their initial teaching certification and/or endorsement.  For complete information and a link to apply, visit http://aaspa.org/leon-bradley-scholarship/.
Lillian May Scholarship - Due MAR 1
The Lillian May Scholarship offers $1000 per year, $500 per semester, and is available to future or current seminary students preparing for missions or a current international missionary who desires further study. The application for the next academic year is due March 1 and can be received by calling Ava in the Missions Support Team office at ABSC 1-800-838-2272 ext 5138.
Nancy Cooper Scholarship - Due MAR 1
Applicants should be committed to a career in missions or to vocational Christian ministry, must be an active member of a Southern Baptist church in Arkansas, and have completed one year of college with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Preference shall be given to women applicants.Established by the Woman’s Missionary Union to honor Dr. Nancy Cooper, Executive Secretary of the Arkansas W.M.U. for twenty-five years. Orchid Care Scholarhip - Due MAY 1
OrchidsMadeEasy.com is offering a $500 scholarship.  Applicants must be “pursuing a program in Botany, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Conservation, or related field, with a focus on orchids.” For more information, visit the scholarship website.
Powell-Duffell Scholarship - Due Feb. 1
Applicants must be preparing for vocational Christian ministry, must be an active member of a church affiliated with the Arkansas Baptist State Convention, and must be classified as a sophomore or junior. Applications and reference forms are available on the following website: http://www.abf.org/.
Spokeo Connections Scholarship - Due in NOV and JUL 1
Any current undergraduate student can apply for a $1000 scholarship by submitting an essay of 1000 words or more on the topic provided. For more information about applying for the scholarship, view the Spokeo website.
TEACH Grant
The TEACH Grant Program provides grants of up to $4,000 a year to students who are completing, or plan to complete, course work needed to begin a career in teaching. A minimum GPA of 3.25 must be maintained. Recipients will sign a TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve, agreeing to (among other requirements) teach in a high-need field, in an area that serves low-income families and for at least four academic years within eight years of completing the course of study. It is important to note that if you do not fulfill the service obligations, the TEACH Grant funds will be converted into a Direct Unsubsidized Loan. Dr. Tajuan Wilson Foundation- Due April

The Dr. TaJuan R. Wilson Scholarship Foundation is dedicated to assisting young people with their quest for higher education. We are a private, donor driven fund and we dispense awards of $500 each to deserving high school seniors from Ouachita County (AR) that plan to attend accredited colleges and universities OR be an incoming freshman at Ouachita Baptist University. The A&F Scholarships are available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution. Go to the A&F website for more information and to apply.
AES Engineering Solutions - Due in OCT
This scholarship is open to Juniors and Seniors in High School and current undergraduates.  An essay of 500 – 1000 words on the given topic is required to apply. No restriction on field of study.  Visit the AES website for more information.
Aesthetic Medicine Scholarship- Due June

Air Force Aid Society Grant - Due in MAR
AFAS provides $2000 grants to selected sons and daughters of active duty, Title 10 AGR/Reserve, Title 32 AGR performing full-time active duty, retired, retired reserve and deceased Air Force members; spouses (stateside) of active duty members and Title 10 AGR/Reservists; and surviving spouses of deceased personnel for their undergraduate studies. Amarillo Foundation Scholarship - Due in FEB
Residents of the 26 northernmost counties of the Texas Panhandle are eligible for scholarships funded through the Amarillo Area Foundation. American Chemical Society Scholars Program - Due MAR 1
The ACS Scholars Program awards renewable scholarships of up to $5,000 to underrepresented minority students who want to enter the fields of chemistry or chemistry-related fields, such as environmental science, toxicology and chemical technology. Baptist Communicators Assoc. - Due in March

Since 1988, the BCA has provided scholarship(s) of up to $1,000 to deserving undergraduate students and one $500 graduate scholarship. Barry Goldwater Scholarship- Due in Jan.

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program was established by Congress in 1986 to honor Senator Barry Goldwater, who served his country for 56 years as a soldier and statesman, including 30 years of service in the U.S. Senate.

Big Sun Athletics - Due in JUN

Bureau of Indian Affairs
Students classified as at least one-quarter Indian blood descendant may be eligible for a higher education grant through the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Students should contact the Bureau in which they are registered/affiliated. More information can be found on the Bureau of Indian Education website.
CBC Foundation Scholarships- Due dates vary

Christian Community Credit Union Scholarship - Due in MAR

Church Mutual- Due in April

The CM CARES Religious Scholars Program is offering 50 scholarships of $5,000 each for a total of $250,000 for the 2017-18 academic year. College JumpStart Scholarship-Due Oct

The College JumpStart Scholarship is an annual, merit-based competition — financial need is not considered — that is open to 10th-12th graders, college students and non-traditional students. The main requirement is that you are committed to going to school and can express your goals for getting a higher education. The first place prize is a $1,000 scholarship to help cover educational expenses. Discover Colleges

As the only national scholarship dedicated to F1, J1 and M1 students, we want all international students to learn about this opportunity and apply. Applications for the 2018 scholarship are now open and the deadline is on September 30, 2018.

Five undergraduate students and five graduate students will be selected randomly from the pool of eligible applicants. Scholarship recipients will receive their $5,000 award through their university in October 2018.[/et_pb_toggle

Ducks Unlimited- Due in Jan <strong> (New Listing 9-5-17)</strong>

Ducks Unlimited (DU) will award college scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are members of DU. The scholarship program is open to all students; however, it is targeted to volunteers who have shown an exceptional level of commitment to wetlands conservation through participation in their high school club or chapter. Emma Freeman Scholarship (Texas Residents only) - Due by April 1
The Emma Freeman Scholarship was established through the San Antonio Lighthouse in 1970 to afford students who are legally blind the opportunity to obtain a college education. Montgomery G.I. Bill (Active Duty)
This is a program of education benefits for students who entered active duty for the first time after June 30, 1985. The student must, with certain exceptions, serve continuously on active duty for three years of a three-year enlistment or, for a lesser benefit, two years of an initial active duty obligation of less than three years. A student also may qualify for benefits by initially serving two continuous years on active duty, followed by four years of Selected Reserve service. Parents qualifying for the G.I. Pastoral Ministry Scholarship
This scholarship which was established by the Arkansas Baptist Convention provides $1,125-$2,125 per semester to male students who are preparing for preaching or pastoral ministry and have been licensed by a Southern Baptist Church and who meet certain basic requirements. TEACH Grant
