Ouachita to host Keeping Faith conference March 28-29

Ouachita Baptist University’s community & family services program in the Pruet School of Christian Studies and the Title IX department will host a conference titled “Keeping Faith” to help faith-based communities learn how to recognize and respond to all forms of child abuse. The two-day training will be held March 28-29 in Walker Conference Center. Admission is $15; Ouachita students and staff will be admitted free.

Ouachita to honor more than 350 graduates during May 14 Commencement

Ouachita Baptist University will hold its 135th Spring Commencement Saturday, May 14, at 9:30 a.m. on the front lawn of Cone-Bottoms Hall. The ceremony honors more than 350 graduates who have earned Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science degrees, as well as those who have earned post-baccalaureate certificates for Dietetic Internship. The nursing graduates, a cohort of 19, are the university’s first-ever B.S.N. degree recipients.

Ouachita presents A Festival of Christmas Dec. 3-4

Ouachita Baptist University’s School of Fine Arts will present its annual holiday program, A Festival of Christmas, on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 3-4, at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Performing Arts Center. The theme of the production is “Christmastime,” from Michael W. Smith’s 1998 album of the same name.

Ouachita Baptist University will hold its 134th Commencement honoring the class of 2021 on Saturday, May 8, at 9:30 a.m. in Cliff Harris Stadium on Ouachita’s campus. The ceremony will honor 364 graduates earning Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education and Associate of Arts degrees, with seven students receiving Ouachita’s first ever post-baccalaureate certificates for dietetic internship.

Ouachita to honor class of 2020 in 133rd commencement ceremony on Dec. 5

Ouachita Baptist University will hold its 133rd commencement honoring the class of 2020 on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. in Cliff Harris Stadium on Ouachita’s campus. The ceremony, which was rescheduled from its original date in May due to COVID-19, will honor 309 graduates.

Ouachita's Department of Theatre Arts to present "Godspell" from April 7-10

Ouachita Baptist University’s Department of Theatre Arts will present the 2012 revival of “Godspell” by Stephen Schwartz from Thursday-Sunday, April 7-10, in Jones Performing Arts Center, 409 Ouachita Street. Shows begin April 7-9 at 7:30 p.m.; a matinee performance will be held April 10 at 2:30 p.m. The production is open to the public.

Ouachita’s Jazz Band will perform its fall concert Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Performing Arts Center. The performance is free and open to the public; masks are required inside the auditorium.

Ouachita Baptist University’s Elrod Center for Family and Community is gearing up to host Tiger Serve Day, a semi-annual community service blitz by members of the university community. This semester’s event, which will take place Saturday, April 10, is “Hands of Hope.”

Ouachita Student Foundation to host Tiger Tunes REWIND livestream event Oct. 3

The Ouachita Student Foundation has announced that it will livestream Tiger Tunes, its annual fundraising event for student scholarships, with the theme “Tunes REWIND” on Saturday, Oct. 3. The decision to move the event to a virtual format comes in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
