Ouachita to honor 364 graduates May 8 at Cliff Harris Stadium

Ouachita Baptist University will hold its 134th Commencement honoring the class of 2021 on Saturday, May 8, at 9:30 a.m. in Cliff Harris Stadium on Ouachita’s campus. The ceremony will honor 364 graduates earning Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education and Associate of Arts degrees, with seven students receiving Ouachita’s first ever post-baccalaureate certificates for dietetic internship.

Christa Neal to serve as Ouachita Title IX coordinator, Community and Family Services program advisor

Ouachita Baptist University has announced its appointment of Christa Neal as both Title IX Coordinator for the university and program advisor for the Community and Family Services academic program, effective June 2021. Neal is the founding executive director of the Percy & Donna Malone Child Safety Center in Arkadelphia, Ark., a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and a licensed family and marriage therapist (LMFT) in the state of Arkansas.

611 Ouachita volunteers act as "Hands of Hope" in Arkadelphia for Spring 2021 Tiger Serve Day

April 12, 2021

Ouachita Baptist University’s Elrod Center for Family and Community held its Spring 2021 Tiger Serve Day event on Saturday, April 10, with 75 teams completing 76 projects throughout the Arkadelphia community. A total of 611 Ouachita student, faculty and staff volunteers represented the university with this semester’s theme, “Hands of Hope.”

Ouachita announces Stepping Up for Ouachita 2021 honorees

Ouachita Baptist University’s Office of Development has announced its annual Stepping Up for Ouachita luncheon will be held on Friday, Nov. 12, in honor of four women who work in healthcare: Dr. Jana Crain, Debbie Kluck, Sherrie Sharp Thomasson and Tammy Young. The event will take place at Chenal Country Club in Little Rock, Ark. Ticket and sponsorship information is available at obu.edu/steppingup.

Ouachita's Patterson School of Natural Sciences hosts Arkansas' first Women in STEM Conference

Ouachita Baptist University’s Patterson School of Natural Sciences hosted the inaugural Arkansas Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Conference on Saturday, March 20, for college students across the state. The virtual event was conducted entirely over Zoom and featured a keynote address, seven concurrent panel discussions with 31 professional women in STEM fields and two sessions of poster presentations highlighting woman-led research and honoring notable women’s contributions to STEM.

Ouachita reports 97% career outcomes rate for graduates in the midst of the pandemic

Ouachita Baptist University announced a 97% career outcomes rate for its 2020 graduating class, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. The percentage exceeds this year’s national average of 86% reported by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).

Ouachita reports highest total spring enrollment in 25 years

February 09, 2021

Ouachita Baptist University has reported a total spring 2021 enrollment of 1,619, a 3% increase since spring 2020 and the highest spring headcount for the university in 25 years. The increase reflects strong retention of traditional undergraduate students and new programs for non-traditional students.

After releasing more than half a dozen cover songs on YouTube, Ouachita Worship has recorded its first original song, “Holy Fire,” which is now available on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.
