More than 700 Ouachita volunteers serve Arkadelphia community

Ouachita Baptist University’s Ben M. Elrod Center for Family & Community held its 55th Tiger Serve Day on Saturday, Sept. 28. More than 700 Ouachita students, faculty and staff volunteered by completing 92 projects at homes, churches, nonprofits and other locations throughout Arkadelphia.

Ouachita's nursing program expands, earns full state board approval

Ouachita Baptist University’s on-campus nursing program is expanding to serve more students as its first graduates celebrate a 92% first-time pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination. The university recently received grants to increase its capacity for students and faculty for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. This summer also included the announcement of full Arkansas State Board of Nursing approval in May.

Arkadelphia native Blaise Batson, a freshman communications & media and political science double major, received the President’s Accomplished Youth Award from the Arkadelphia Regional Economic Development Alliance and Area Chamber of Commerce. Batson was presented her award during the 2024 Arkadelphia Alliance and Chamber Annual Banquet, held Thursday, April 11, in the Garrison Center Grand Ballroom at Henderson State University.

Pool named dean of Ouachita's School of Education

August 20, 2024

Dr. Rachel Pool, associate professor of education at Ouachita Baptist University, has been named dean of the Huckabee School of Education after 13 years on the Ouachita faculty. Pool began providing leadership June 1 for the school’s departments of Education and Kinesiology, which offer six undergraduate degrees between them as well as graduate programs in curriculum & instruction and exercise science.
