Ouachita's nursing program expands, earns full state board approval

Ouachita Baptist University’s on-campus nursing program is expanding to serve more students as its first graduates celebrate a 92% first-time pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination. The university recently received grants to increase its capacity for students and faculty for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. This summer also included the announcement of full Arkansas State Board of Nursing approval in May.

Qualified Ouachita students guaranteed admission to UALR's Bowen School of Law

Ouachita Baptist University has joined the Pathways Program at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law, creating an opportunity there for qualified Ouachita graduates to prepare for a legal career.

Batson honored by Chamber of Commerce

Arkadelphia native Blaise Batson, a freshman communications & media and political science double major, received the President’s Accomplished Youth Award from the Arkadelphia Regional Economic Development Alliance and Area Chamber of Commerce. Ouachita Baptist University will host its annual Stepping Up for Ouachita luncheon Friday, Nov. 8, at Chenal Country Club in Little Rock. The event will honor Susan Doshier of Frisco, Texas; Shari Edwards of North Little Rock, Ark.; Carol Miller Gresham of Springdale, Ark.; and Kathy Rainwater of Little Rock, Ark.

Ouachita's Fall 2024 enrollment highest in 58 years

Ouachita Baptist University has reported a total Fall 2024 enrollment of 1,858, an increase from last fall and the university’s highest total headcount in almost six decades.

Pool named dean of Ouachita's School of Education

Dr. Rachel Pool, associate professor of education at Ouachita Baptist University, has been named dean of the Huckabee School of Education after 13 years on the Ouachita faculty. Pool began providing leadership June 1 for the school’s departments of Education and Kinesiology, which offer six undergraduate degrees between them as well as graduate programs in curriculum & instruction and exercise science.

Barnes' composition performed at national conference

A composition by Ouachita Baptist University student Jenna Barnes was presented at the 66th College Music Society National Conference held Oct. 26-28 in Miami, Fla. Barnes is a senior music industry major from Sheridan, Ark.
