New Student Move-In Information
Thursday, August 13
1-8 p.m. • By appointment only
Friday, August 14, 2020
8 a.m.-4 p.m. • By appointment only
Special protocols will be in place for move-in this year in light of COVID-19. Policies and plans are subject to change as guidance regarding COVID-19 is updated to reflect the current situation in Arkansas and Clark County. All activities will follow the most current standards for health precautions, including such measures as physical distancing, frequent hand sanitation and face coverings.
Move-in Appointments: New students will move in on Friday, August 14, by appointment only in order to maximize physical distancing. Links to sign up for an appointment will be sent to your Ouachita email on July 23. It is important that you arrive during your chosen time so that we can minimize the number of people moving through the residence halls at one time. Once your car is unloaded, follow directions for moving your car and making a space for the next shift of move-in appointments.
Health Screenings: Before you arrive on campus, you must complete the COVID-19 screening form at obu.edu/covid19screening.
Enter Campus on Elrod Blvd.: All new students moving to campus must enter campus through Elrod Boulevard from Highway 7. Watch for the checkpoints for new students along the way. Follow the signs to your residence hall, where you will check in.
Check In: When you arrive at your residence hall, start by checking in with your Resident Director. They will give you your keys and any further instructions for moving in. Your RD will be a great resource to you throughout your time living in the residence halls.
Limited Helpers: While we love all of your family members, only two people are allowed in the residence hall with you at any one time this year. If you have more than two helpers coming to see you off, take turns carrying things into the building and prepping in the car. There also are plenty of spots on campus guests can wait while you get moved in.
Health Protocols: Sanitation stations will be located throughout the residence halls and additional facilities management staff will be present to clean surfaces frequently throughout the day. Face coverings are required in all indoor common areas. You may remove them in your individual room when alone with your roommate or family. We will all do our best to observe physical distancing of 6 feet between families throughout the day, with direction on traffic flow inside and outside of the buildings.
Taking Care of Business: If you need to take care of any administrative items prior to classes beginning on Monday, Ouachita offices will be open on Thursday and Friday. However, please call or email before dropping by, as offices are seeking to minimize traffic to maintain physical distancing. Refer to your welcome packet for contact information.
- For questions about your financial aid or student account, please contact Student Financial Services by phone (870.245.5570), email or Zoom prior to coming to campus. Although in-office counseling will not be available during move-in, Student Financial Services will have a service window for your convenience if you need to finalize your payment.
- Be sure to complete the online check-in process for classes August 5-7 through your Info Portal prior to arriving. This includes your payment and locks in your academic schedule for the semester.
Ouachita Campus Store: The Ouachita Campus Store will be open in the lower level of Evans Student Center from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Pick up snacks, Ouachita merch or supplies like extra 3M strips.
Move-in Day Tips:
