Dr. Julyse Migan-Gandonou Horr (aka Dr. Horr) is the Director of Ouachita’s ABA graduate programs. She is a Doctoral-level Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA^®-D), a Texas-Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA), and the owner and founder of ABA Clinical & Training Solutions, LLC (a consulting agency which primarily aims to help ABA organizations develop and implement in-house mentorship, supervision, and training programs). Dr. Horr has over a decade of combined experience in the basic (EAB), applied (ABA), and professional practice domains of behavior analysis.

Dr. Horr obtained her B.A. in Psychology from the City University of New York (CUNY) at the College of Staten Island where, as an EAB research assistant, she conducted numerous basic-research experiments on conditional discrimination with pigeons in the animal research laboratory. While at CUNY, Dr. Horr also interned at Eden II’s school for children and adults with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities, where she gained experience applying EAB-derived principles of behavior to human behavior. Dr. Horr received her M.S. in Psychology with a concentration in ABA from Florida International University (FIU) where, as a research assistant and practicum lead therapist, she gained experience conducting experimental functional analyses for the treatment of severe challenging and aggressive behaviors at FIU’s Severe Behavior Disorder Clinic. Dr. Horr earned her Ph.D. in ABA from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology where she served as student ambassador, research assistant, graduate teaching assistant, and adjunct instructor. Dr. Horr has been teaching both undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in ABA at several universities since 2016.

As a science-informed practitioner, Dr. Horr has provided and overseen the delivery of ABA services to individuals of ages ranging from 2 to 47 years old with ASD, I/DD, ADHD, OCD, and psychiatric disorders. Using a multi-disciplinary approach, Dr. Horr has also provided and directed the delivery of ABA services to challenging and crisis cases involving adolescents and adults with severe behavioral and psychiatric/mental health disorders (including bipolar disorder, impulse control disorders, conduct disorders, etc.), and perpetrators and victims of sexually deviant behaviors. Dr. Horr has served in numerous leadership roles and has extensive experience training and monitoring the quality and effectiveness of ABA services provided by behavior analysts, group home and direct care staff, parents, and school staff. Dr. Horr has also served as a committee member of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities’ Local Review Committee in Broward County, Florida for nearly 5 years.

Dr. Horr’s clinical area of expertise is in the assessment and treatment of challenging and aberrant behaviors across various age groups and populations; and developing and implementing rigorous behavior analytic training programs for ABA organizations. Dr. Horr’s primary research interests include behavioral economics, specifically delay discounting, effort discounting, and impulsive choice. She has presented her work at local and national behavior analytic conferences, published in peer-reviewed behavior-analytic journals, and currently working on several other projects in this area. Dr. Horr’s goal and passion is to train the next generation of compassionate scientist-practitioners of ABA who will help improve the human condition by disseminating the science of learning and behavior globally.
