2024 Total Solar Eclipse

When the total solar eclipse occurs on Monday, April 8, Arkadelphia will be in the path of totality – so if you’re on Ouachita’s campus, you’re in a prime location to experience one of the most amazing natural events of the century. Let’s celebrate it together!

FAQs

We'll be in the path of totality for a little more than two minutes — which means a lot of cool things happen REALLY quickly. This video will help you know what to watch for.

Ouachita will provide FREE eclipse viewing glasses. You can pick them up at the Solar Eclipse & Space Weather lecture on April 5 or at the Total Solar Eclipse Watch Party on April 8. NASA gave Ouachita more than 10,000 pairs of glasses, so there are plenty available for all Ouachitonians.

Yes! Stay tuned for Total Eclipse t-shirts that will be for sale in the Ouachita Campus Store and online.

Looking at the eclipse through a telescope or binoculars, with sunglasses on or directly without proper protection can literally burn your eyes, causing irreparable damage. So be smart and keep your eyes safe: Wear eclipse viewing glasses when you look at the sun

We’d love to welcome everyone, but the Watch Party & Spring Fling is just for Ouachita students as well as faculty/staff and their families.

If you’re a Ouachita student with a meal plan, you’ll use caf swipes for lunch. Complimentary meal tickets are available for commuter students, as well as faculty/staff and their families, in the Office of Student Life in Evans Student Center, (870) 245-5539.

Parking will be set up like it is on game day at Cliff Harris Stadium, with the road blocked at Elrod Blvd. Two hayride-type shuttles and the Tiger Tram will provide rides between lower SPEC and Tiger Field from 11:30 a.m.-1:15 p.m. and 2:15-3 p.m.
