WHAT YOU'LL LOVE

Almost all of our students live on campus, so residence life at Ouachita creates a very special kind of community; it’s a big part of what makes Ouachita unique. Friends you make at Ouachita will be your people for life.

At Ouachita, we’re committed to a love of God and a love of learning. We’ll challenge you to carefully explore and embrace what you believe, and to grow in your faith by sharing in student-led worship and service opportunities.

Nearly every freshman at Ouachita receives financial aid. Only about half our students take out loans (compared to 69% nationally), and they graduate with debt levels well below state and national averages.

Offering 60 undergraduate academic programs in seven schools, Ouachita has been highly ranked by national publications including U.S. News & World Report and Niche.com. Our 13:1 student-to-faculty ratio means you’ll make personal connections with outstanding faculty members who will mentor and invest personally in you and facilitate your academic achievement.

We equip our students for success, whether that’s in a graduate program or a career. Ninety-seven percent of our recent grads have jobs or are accepted to graduate school within six months of receiving their diploma.

We believe that life is lived most abundantly in response to the love of God through Jesus Christ, and we know by Jesus’ example that serving others is a vital part of that response. The Ben M. Elrod Center for Family & Community challenges and equips Ouachita students, faculty and staff to live out our faith as servant leaders committed to building stronger communities. And each year, the Daniel and Betty Jo Grant Center for International Education partners with Ouachita’s Campus Ministries and Pruet School of Christian Studies to provide international missions opportunities for students.

Music, Greek life, travel, languages, science, theatre, community outreach, intramurals, spiritual growth, leadership—whatever you’re interested in, Ouachita has a packed-out social calendar and more than 50 student organizations offering you tons of ways to plug in and stay as busy as you want to be.

There are more than 10 miles of hiking and biking trails winding through and around Arkadelphia. And within minutes of leaving your dorm, you could be kayaking on the Ouachita or Caddo rivers or swimming, golfing or riding horses at DeGray Lake State Park. Even in winter, high temps rarely dip below the mid-50s here. So you can enjoy the outdoors all year.

Performing in Tiger Tunes to raise money for student scholarships, joining Tiger Nation to cheer on the Purple and Gold during the Battle of the Ravine, graduating on the lawn of Cone-Bottoms Hall—on a campus steeped in more than 135 years of tradition, there are endless opportunities to celebrate the past in fun, meaningful ways.

Ouachita Tiger athletics is a force to be reckoned with, racking up recent national wins in swimming and wrestling and conference championships in basketball, football, soccer, tennis and volleyball. Nearly a quarter of Ouachita’s student body competes in one of our 16 NCAA Division II athletics teams; so when the Tigers win, it’s personal!
