About
Dr. Natilan Crutcher is a minister, voice teacher, choir director, performer, and composer born and raised
in Hermitage, Tenn. She received her B.A. in Voice Performance at Lipscomb University
and her M.M. and D.M.A. in Voice Performance at West Virginia University.
As a teacher, she has had the privilege of teaching children and adults at the West
Virginia Community Music Program, and she served as an Adjunct Instructor of Voice
at West Virginia University. As a performer, she has performed a wide range of genres
such as Pop, R&B, Gospel, Jazz, Spirituals, Musical Theatre, Art Song, Oratorio and
Opera. As a composer, she has been fortunate to have her works performed by students
at Lipscomb University and Ouachita Baptist University. She released her first album
in October of 2020 titled "Expressions," which features a number of her instrumental
works composed of strings, flute, piano, and more.
During her collegiate studies, she performed in numerous recitals and competed in
competitions such at NATS, and The Spirituals Voice Competition. She was the recipient
of the Performer of the Year award in 2013 at Lipscomb University. During her graduate
studies, she performed mezzo-soprano and soprano roles such as Carmen (Carmen), Hänsel (Hänsel and Gretel), Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro), and Mrs. Gobineau (The Medium) and has been fortunate to work with international performers and directors such
as Gustavo Halley and Marcello Cormio.
As a minister, she is a strong advocate for community service and outreach and has
shared the Gospel, worshiped, and performed for churches in Tennessee, West Virginia,
and Arkansas. She has served as a member of the choir and praise team at churches
such as First Baptist Hopewell, Hall Memorial, and Restoring Life Ministries. Her
ministry is to share the truth of the Gospel and the love of Jesus Christ in all that
she does in her professional and personal life.
Fun Facts
What do you like most about your field?
In my job, most of the teaching that I do is one-on-one, which is also how I am most
effective as a minister. I love how Christ is able to pour His love peace, joy, and
wisdom through me and right into my students. It is a calling that I greatly cherish.
I love being able to have deep and meaningful conversations and experiences with my
students. I am able to make a deeper impact as a teacher and minister in this way.
