MSG Flanagan has served his country for more than 19 years on Active Duty. During his career as an Infantryman, MSG Flanagan has earned his degrees in Management and Business Administration from Post University. He is currently pursuing his Master’s in Psychology from American Military University. MSG Flanagan currently serves as a Military Science Instructor for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Henderson State University, and Ouachita Baptist University.

His previous assignments include Fire Team Leader, Squad Leader with 1-501st (Airborne) 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska, Platoon Sergeant 1-41st, 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division and Military Advisor Team NCOIC 1st Battalion, 4th SFAB Fort Carson, Colorado. MSG Flanagan has deployed five times in service to the nation, to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, NEW DAWN, ENDURING FREEDOM, and FREEDOM’s SENTINEL. His military education includes the Basic Airborne School, U.S. Army Combatives levels 1&2, Jump Master School, Pathfinder School, Joint Fires Observer Course, Urban Mobility Breaching Course, Defense Language (Arabic), Emergency Medical Technician course, Advance Situational Awareness, SERE School, U.S. Army Special Forces Foreign Weapons Course, Joint Fires Observer course, Military Advisor Training Academy, and the Battle Staff Course. He is also a graduate of the Warrior Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Maneuver Senior Leaders Course, and the Master Leaders Course.

His military awards and decorations include: one Bronze Star Medal with Valor, one Bronze Star Medal, two Meritorious Service Medals, the Army Commendation Medal with Valor, four Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal with two Campaign Stars, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with three Campaign Stars, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon numeral 4, the Army Service Ribbon, six Overseas Service Ribbons, six Good Conduct Medals, two NATO Medals, two Valorous Unit awards, an Army Meritorious Unit Citation, an Army Superior Unit Award, the Order of Saint Maurice Medal, Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.

MSG Flanagan has been married for over 15 years is the proud father of four children.
