Federal law requires that all students studying on an F1 student visa provide reasonable evidence that they can pay for the first year of university up front and that they can also pay for the additional costs for the duration of the student’s studies. These additional costs include:

Tuition, fees, room & board are subject to change from year to year as determined by the Ouachita Board of Trustees.
Taxes: If your scholarship funds amount to more than the total cost of tuition, fees and books, you may be assessed a 14% federal tax on those excess amounts.
Please note that international students do NOT pay an out of state fee at Ouachita.

International students are eligible for the same amount of merit-based aid as American students. Scholarship amounts are based on either TOEFL or IELTS scores or SAT/ACT scores & high school transcripts. Students whose secondary schools operate on a grading scale other than the American 4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) system must send their scores to either World Education Services, International Education Evaluations or Education Credential Evaluators to receive equivalencies.
- $12,500 per year available with a transfer GPA between 3.5
- $10,000 per year available with a transfer GPA between 3.0-3.49
- $7,500 per year available with a transfer GPA between 2.5-2.99
- $5,000 per year available with a transfer GPA between 2.0-2.49
This scholarship is available only to international students and is awarded at the discretion of the university. International students planning to study abroad while at Ouachita Baptist University are not eligible.
The average Global Scholarship Award is $5,000 per year for up to 4 years.

Each department has different criteria and these scholarships are usually only awarded after a successful first year.
