Donnie Copeland teaches courses in drawing and painting, advising students in their senior projects
and coordinates exhibits for the Hammons Gallery. Copeland completed an MFA in painting
at the University of Dallas in 2005. He is a graduate of the department (2000) and
has taught at Ouachita for the last 5 years. Prior to returning to Ouachita he served
as an advertising assistant at Forms and Supply Inc. in Charlotte, North Carolina,
and later as a photographer for Flash Photo in Branson, Missouri. He has also taught
elementary, middle and high school and was an adjunct instructor at Brookhaven College
in Farmers Branch, Texas.
His paintings have been included in solo and group exhibits in Houston, Kansas City,
and the southeastern United States including the 2011 Delta Exhibition at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock. More recently, a work of his has become
part of the collection of IberiaBank, and is on display in the bank’s new location
in the Stephens Inc. building in Little Rock. In 2013 Donnie will took part in the exhibit
Boundary Hunters at Alfred University in Alfred, New York.
