Explore Ouachita! Hosting
Explore Ouachita!
September 30–October 1 and October 1–2, 2020.
See the full schedule here. We would love to have you be one of the student hosts for this event!
What do you need to know before you register to host:
- Even if you have already made plans to host a friend(s), you need to register to host with the form below. We will not put someone in your room if we don't have your okay.
- You don't have to entertain your prospective students. We keep them busy until well after Tiger Tunes. We do, however, need to feel very welcome in your room. Visiting a college can be a daunting experience, in general, but especially when you're staying overnight.
- They should get up in the morning and head off to breakfast and class. If they didn't bring a car, they may need to get into your room around lunchtime to get their belongings
- This needs to be a positive experience for the students. We want you to be honest with them, but this may be the only time they visit campus. Be aware of how you talk about situations and people at Ouachita for which they have no context because it can give them incorrect ideas about what life here is like (you'd be surprised).
- You need to talk to your suite before registering. It is a shared space, and you need to communicate with all those living in that space so that everyone knows how many prospective students will be staying there. Then please have ONLY ONE person register for the room/suite with the total number.

Great! Thank you for being willing to host a student(s) for Explore Ouachita! This is such an important event for prospective Ouachita students. Admissions Counseling could not put on this event without the many Ouachita students who open up their rooms to Explore Ouachita! students. Thank you!
What do you need to do as a host?
- Have someone in your room from 4:45-5:45 to greet your Explore guests.
- Be available after the Tunes After party Wednesday, September 26 and/or Refuge Thursday,September 27 to let your student back into your room.
- Be friendly and as available as possible (we understand many of you are in Tunes) to make the prospective student feel welcomed.
- We encourage Explore Ouachita! students to take their belongings to their car prior to their first event on Thursday/Friday morning.
Thank you again for sharing Ouachita with these students.
