Activities & Events
Come, let’s experience the world together.
The Grant Center is dedicated to both bringing the world to Ouachita and taking Ouachita
to the world, whether that's through events, activities and organizations on campus
or trips to explore the surrounding region and beyond. Below is a sampling of ways
the Grant Center keeps a global focus for Ouachita throughout each year, including
many ways for you to plug in and gain cultural experiences you won't soon forget.
International Club
[ Mondays at 9 p.m. ]
The International Club is a student organization focused on building the international
community and sharing cultures at Ouachita through friendship, events, community service
and fun. All Ouachita students are invited to join the International Club, and it
is an especially great place for international students, missionary kids and third
culture kids to find camaraderie and support. The club is student-led and offers great
leadership opportunities for international students and others with an interest in
global issues. IC partners with the Grant Center to coordinate trips and host the
annual International Food Festival and also participates in other campus events throughout
the year. Come check it out at any of our weekly meetings on Monday evenings at 9
p.m. in McClellan 100. We look forward to seeing you!
Fall Break Trip
[ October ]
Each year, the Grant Center and the International Club coordinate a trip over Fall
Break in October to a nearby city. These trips are open to all international students,
MKs and friends. They provide a great opportunity to make new friends while experiencing
some of the sites, sounds and cultures of the United States. Recent trips have visited
New Orleans, La.; Nashville, Tenn.; and Branson, Mo. Join the International Club to
stay informed about upcoming trips!
International Focus Chapel Service
[ Fall Semester ]
Each fall, the Grant Center presents one of Ouachita's weekly chapel services. It
is a great opportunity for Ouachita students to learn about the variety of missions
and study abroad opportunities available through the Grant Center and Campus Ministries.
You'll hear from other Ouachita students, faculty and staff about their recent international
experiences and how you can start your own international adventure!

International Food Festival
[ February ]
The Grant Center and the International Club partner to present the International Food
Festival each February. The festival has become a favorite event on campus, drawing
crowds of more than 500 guests in recent years. Students, faculty and staff who have
lived or studied outside of the U.S. share food from their respective countries with
the rest of campus. Entertainment featuring a variety of cultures also is presented,
and a fair trade market supports the work of artisans from around the world. Don't
miss this special opportunity to celebrate the many cultures represented on Ouachita's
campus!

American Culture Experiences
[ All Year ]
Our English as a Second Language (ESL) program provides unique opportunities for students
to get outside of the classroom, use their English skills and experience American
culture through experiential learning. From field trips to the State Capitol to traditional
American fall activities like pumpkin carving and hay rides, we seek to give our students
every opportunity make the most of their study abroad experience.
International Mission Trips
[ Summer ]
The Grant Center partners with Campus Ministries to coordinate at least one international
mission trip each year. These trips give Ouachita students the opportunity to share
Christ's love with his people around the world. Since 2010, Campus Ministries has
partnered with Prevention Time SA to help with that organization's work in South Africa.
