Ouachita’s physics program seeks to prepare its graduates to become successful researchers,
teachers and applied scientists in today’s competitive marketplace. Our training allows
students to develop widely sought-after skills such as critical thinking, problem
solving and independent learning that they will use the rest of their lives.

Students are also strongly encouraged to engage in either independent research or
as part of a faculty lead team. These opportunities exist both on campus through the
OBU summer research program or off-campus through the Research Experiences for Undergraduates
(REU) program at numerous universities around the United States. In recent years,
we have had students participate in REU programs at the University of Arkansas and
Auburn University.
