Alumni Comments about the Nutrition and Dietetics Program at Ouachita Baptist University:

OBU stands out among the five universities I have attended as an undergraduate and graduate student. The quality of instruction and well-rounded curriculum of the Dietetics Program prepared me to attend the United States Military-Baylor Graduate Program in Nutrition, which only accepts 10 students per year. In addition to its academic rigors, OBU is a sincere community of people in which to build lasting relationships and treasured memories. Of all the universities I’ve attended, my experience at Ouachita makes it dearest to my heart.

The dietetics department at Ouachita not only equipped me for graduate school and my dietetic internship, it prepared me as a clinician to lead in my profession and serve in my community. I felt extremely prepared as an intern in my class and jumped right into internship rotations with ease. Not only do Dr. Brech and Mrs. Freeman teach clinical skills, they prepare their students to be adaptable and lifelong learners.

The OBU dietetics program prepared me very well for my internship, RD exam, graduate school, and current job. The individualized attention and broad exposure to the field of dietetics through built-in shadowing and practicum experiences were unique components of the OBU’s program that many other programs do not provide.

Dietetics is more than I thought it would be. You’ll learn more than you might think, and you won’t simply learn material; you’ll learn why it matters and how to apply it.

The Dietetics and Nutrition Program challenged me in my academics as well as in getting involved beyond the classroom. The professors equip you with experience and knowledge you need as you move closer to your academic and career goals. I loved this program and how it has prepared me for life as a Registered Dietitian.
