Miss Ouachita Baptist University 2017 Farewell
January 01, 2020
God has a plan far greater than we could ever imagine. I have learned this many times
over the years, but especially the last 13 months. Thirteen months ago I stepped foot
on this very stage to compete in my first pageant Feb. 4, 2017. I will always remember
it as being one of the most fun days of my life from start to finish. I remember praying
throughout the day to trust in God’s plan, do my best and have fun. God was in control,
because I had the time of my life on that stage. I was shocked when they announced
my name as Miss Ouachita Baptist University! I felt fortunate to be the 50th Miss OBU and have the former Miss OBUs join me on the stage. I remember being graced
by former state title holders, doctors, lawyers, mothers, artists – so many accomplished
women – and I realized I had big shoes to fill. These ladies challenged me and inspired
me, making me want to be the best Miss OBU I could be.
Throughout my year, I had many opportunities to speak to alumni; share my platform,
“Stay Hydrated, Stay Healthy”; volunteer for community service events; attend Ouachita
events; meet many amazing people; and love on some precious kiddos. I have learned
more about myself than I could have ever imagined. I now realize that the times when
I served others was when I received the biggest blessing. This year of service has
impacted my life in more ways than I could have ever imagined. I have learned to live
life to the fullest, love others to the best of my abilities and to strive to make
a difference with every action and with every word spoken.
During the week of Miss Arkansas, I made forever friends and lifelong memories and
grew spiritually. When I look back to Feb, 4, 2017, I immediately thank God. None
of this would have been possible without my Lord and Savior. I grew as I realized
that no matter how much preparing I had done, how well I did each night, God had a
plan. I realized my whole life is in His hands. This moment on this stage changed
my life for the better, and it is because I was Miss OBU.
Thank you to every individual, sponsor and volunteer who make this pageant a success.
Everything each of you has done is greatly appreciated! To each supporter, to every
person who texted, called, reached out, encouraged me and pushed me over the last
year, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! You are what makes this organization
so special and what makes the title of Miss OBU such an honor.
Ouachita Baptist University is my favorite place. It is Disney World in my eyes. This
university has shaped me into the person I am today and is still continuing to do
so. To the faculty, staff, friends and coaches who have invested in me over the last
three years, THANK YOU. Thank you, Ouachita, for letting me serve you. There was truly
no greater feeling than walking up to the microphone at Miss Arkansas and saying,
“Miss Ouachita Baptist University, Tiffany Lee!”
I cannot express how much this year as Miss Ouachita Baptist University has meant
to me! I could not have done it without the support of my family, friends, coaches,
directors, teachers, the Women of EEE and you, OBU! I cannot help but be a little
sad giving up the best title ever, but I cannot wait to see the impact our next Miss
OBU will make on this campus! To the 51st Miss Ouachita Baptist University, get ready for the best year of your life!
With all the love in my heart,
Tiffany Lee, Miss Ouachita Baptist University 2017
