October 30, 2020 - Michaelyn Ferrell
Ouachita Baptist University will host Bethany Crawley for her senior flute recital in McBeth Recital Hall on Friday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. Due to limited capacity guidelines for COVID-19, the recital will be livestreamed for the public at livestream.com/obu and will have limited seating available for the Ouachita community.
Crawley, a senior instrumental music education major from Jonesboro, Ark., is a member of the Tiger Marching Band and Ouachita Wind Ensemble. She also is a member of Chi Mu women’s social club and Kappa Delta Pi honor society for education. Crawley is a student of Dr. Carlos Feller, visiting assistant professor of music.
“I hope this recital will show the growth I have made at my time at Ouachita,” Crawley said. “This recital will cover pieces of music history beginning with Baroque music and ending with Colonial Williamsburg duets.
“I am so thankful for Dr. Carlos Feller leading me in this growth on my instrument and musicianship,” she added.
Crawley will begin the recital with “Sonata in F Major” by George Frideric Handel followed by “Madrigal” by Philippe Gaubert. Next she will perform “Syrinx” by Claude Debussy and “Sonate, Movements II and III” by Paul Hindemith. Crawley will conclude her recital with a series of drum and fife pieces arranged by John C. Moon, including “Playel’s Rondo,” “Hey! Johnnie Cope Are Ye Wauken Yet?,” “Edinburgh Slow” and “Chain Cotillion.”
Crawley will be accompanied on the field drum by Richie Blosch, a senior instrumental music education major from Fort Worth, Texas, and Kristen La Madrid, staff accompanist.
