The Division of Music in Ouachita Baptist University’s School of Fine Arts will host Julia Letcher for her senior vocal recital Friday, April 28, at 11 a.m. in McBeth Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
Letcher is a musical theatre major from Plano, Texas. She has been named to the President’s and Dean’s lists at Ouachita, where she is a Friend of the Arts Scholar, a member of Tri Chi women’s social club, serves as president of Alpha Psi Omega national theatre honor society and performed the role of Miss Andrew in the Department of Theatre Arts’ spring production of “Mary Poppins.”
Letcher’s principal applied instructor is Dr. Natilan Crutcher, visiting assistant professor of music at Ouachita. She is also a student of Dr. Scott Holsclaw, professor emeritus of theatre arts.
“I am excited to show what I have been working on during the past four years and to use it as a jumping-off point into my post college experience,” Letcher said. “I want to thank Dr. Crutcher for pushing me to pursue excellence and continue to create.”
During her recital, Letcher will perform “I Get a Kick Out of You” from Anything Goes by Cole Porter, “The Song That Goes Like This” from Spamalot by Eric Idle and John DuPrez, “I Have Confidence” from The Sound of Music by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II and “Times are Hard for Dreamers” from Amélie by Daniel Messé and Nathan Tysen.
Letcher will be joined during the recital by Susan Monroe, Ouachita accompanist. Cordell Hufstedler, a senior vocal performance major from Thayer, Mo., and Payton Mixon, a senior musical theatre major from New Caney, Texas, will assist Letcher.
