Ouachita Baptist University’s Office of Career & Calling will host its annual Spring Networking Expo at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, in Walker Conference Center. The event is designed to connect organizations and employers, such as businesses, nonprofits, ministries, government entities, school districts and graduate programs with current Ouachita students and faculty.

“Connections, like the ones made at the Spring Networking Expo, can be sources of not just jobs but also other opportunities for students,” Adam Wheat, director of the Office of Career & Calling, said. “Even if they don’t immediately see the fruit, they are planting a seed at the expo, and the way they learn to ask questions and talk about themselves in these real conversations develops vital self-marketing skills.”

Students are encouraged to dress professionally and prepare to introduce themselves and their interests to professional and organizational representatives. The event will also include access to a professional headshot photographer and a free Early Access Lunch, where students have further opportunities for in-depth discussion.

“The most important thing I tell students is to not make assumptions based on the business’ name or industry,” Wheat said. “Professionals often have jobs just right for students that they may not realize exist.”
