OBU Division of Music presents Cori Cable Kidder in senior musical theatre

Cori Cable Kidder, a senior musical theatre major from Wynne, Ark., will present her senior musical theatre recital on March 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s McBeth Recital Hall on the campus of Ouachita Baptist University.

Kidder serves as vice president of Ouachita Singers and president of Theta Alpha Phi national honorary theatre fraternity. She was chosen for Who’s Who Among American Students in Colleges and Universities in 2009, was an OBU Tiger Tunes hostess in 2007, also serving as choreographer for the hosts and hostesses, and has been an Irene Ryan Acting Nominee.

Kidder will open the recital with Jeff Bowen’s “Secondary Characters” from [title of show], followed by Stephen Sondheim’s “Any Moment” from Into the Woods, Jason Robert Brown’s “Stars and the Moon” from Songs for a New World and a scene from Edward Albee’s The Goat: or, Who Is Sylvia? The recital continues with Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart’s “I Wish I Were in Love Again” from Babes in Arms, a scene from A.R. Gurney, Jr.’s The Problem and Jonathan Larson’s “Green Green Dress” from tick tick… Boom!

Kidder will then perform Stephen Sondheim’s “Moments in the Woods” from Into the Woods, Nacio Herb Brown’s “Good Morning” from Singing in the Rain and Marvin Hamlisch’s “I Still Believe in Love” from They’re Playing Our Song.

After a recitation of William Shakespeare’s “Sonnet 116,” Kidder will conclude the recital with Duncan Sheik’s “The Song of Purple Summer” from Spring Awakening.
