Campus Activities Board to host annual Spring Fling
March 31, 2009 - Dillon McClain
Ouachita Baptist University’s Campus Activity Board will host Spring Fling April 2-4
on OBU’s campus. This event is CAB’s major spring event designed for students to relax
and have a great time on campus for free.
Thursday’s events will be from 3-8 p.m. in OBU’s main plaza. “There will be games
on the lawn, such as giant trike races, speed pitch baseball, bungee run, joust and
boxing, laser tag, and even a dunking booth,” said Nathan Shelburne, director of campus
activities. “There will also be other activities like face painting, caricatures,
video games, a cake walk and other fun events outside in the plaza.”
On Friday, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” will be shown in the main plaza at
7:30 p.m.
Saturday’s activities will begin after Tiger Serve Day, and will feature lots of activities
around the campus. There will be tournaments and recreation, racquetball and disc
golf tourneys, a 5k fun run, a chili cook-off, outdoor concerts, dinner on the lawn
and a host of other events throughout the day.
This year’s Spring Fling has expanded to three days this year to give students a “chance
to relax and have a great time outdoors,” said Shelburne. “Spring Fling has been a
great tradition at Ouachita for a number of years, and CAB hopes the event offers
a great opportunity for students to hang out on campus and enjoy the beautiful spring
weather.”
