Ouachita saxophone ensembles to perform Oct. 26

The Ouachita Baptist University saxophone ensembles and bassoon quintet will present a concert on Monday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the McBeth Recital Hall in the Mabee Fine Arts Center on Ouachita’s campus. The concert is free and open to the public.

The musicians will be performing a variety of chamber music under the direction of Caroline Taylor, professor of music. Ensembles performing include the Saxophone Quartet, the OBU Bassoon Quintet and the Ouachita Saxophone Orchestra.

Featured in the Saxophone Quartet are Alex Goff, a sophomore music theory and composition major from Nashville, Ark., on soprano saxophone; Alissa Hill, a junior instrumental music education major from Bella Vista, Ark., on alto saxophone; John Ashburn, a junior instrumental music education major from Monroe, La., on tenor saxophone; and Brian Matney, a junior instrumental music education major from Gravette, Ark., on baritone saxophone.

The Bassoon Quintet is comprised of: Darlene Seal, a senior Christian studies and missions major from Bryant, Ark.; Jonathan Stockman, a senior English major from Fayette, Ala.; Paul Huenefeld, a sophomore church music major from Pine Bluff, Ark.; C.J. Santiago, a freshman music major from Little Rock; and Michael Curtis, a freshman instrumental music education major from Wylie, Texas.

The Saxophone Orchestra consists of 10 student saxophonists playing everything from soprano to bass saxophone. Students in this ensemble include: John Ashburn, a junior instrumental music education major from Monroe, La.; Allan Bateman, a freshman music theory and composition major from Perryville, Ark.; Marshall Butler, a freshman biology major from Cabot, Ark.; Emily Duncan, a senior instrumental music education major from Marion, Ark.; Alex Goff, a sophomore instrumental music theory and composition major from Nashville, Ark.; Jordan Henry, a senior instrumental music education major from Greenbrier, Ark.; Alissa Hill, a junior instrumental music education major from Bella Vista, Ark.; Bradley Lindsey, a freshman instrumental music education major from Longview, Texas; Brian Matney, a junior instrumental music education major from Gravette, Ark.; and Cyrus Morris, a sophomore instrumental music education major from Katy, Texas.
