Rachel Harris to present sophomore musical theatre recital March 5

Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host Rachel Harris, a sophomore
musical theatre major from Springdale, Ark., in her sophomore recital Friday, March
5, at 11 a.m. in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s McBeth Recital Hall.
Harris was awarded second place in the sophomore women division of the recent National
Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) auditions. She placed third in the freshman
women division of last year’s NATS auditions. Harris has appeared in the role of La
Ciesca in Ouachita’s opera production Gianni Schicci and is a member of Ouachita’s Honors Program. She has been named to OBU’s President’s
and Dean’s Lists.
Harris’ recital will begin with Johannes Brahms’ “Vergebliches Ständchen,” followed
by Giacomo Puccini’s “O Mio Babbino Caro” and Gaetano Donizetti’s “Chacun le sait.”
She will then perform Jason Howland’s “Some Things Are Meant to Be” before concluding
the recital with Jule Styne’s “If You Hadn’t But You Did.” She will be accompanied
on piano by Linda Thompson.
