Cassie Wheeler, a junior at Ouachita Baptist University, was elected as the 2010 Arkansas
Athletic Trainers’ Association (AATA) Student Member representative to the Southwest
Athletic Trainers’ Association (SWATA).
Wheeler, an athletic training major at Ouachita from Waxahachie, Texas, will attend
the SWATA convention and clinical symposium July 22-24 in Arlington, Texas. More than
3,000 certified athletic trainers (ATCs) are scheduled to attend the annual District
6 meeting.
“This is a great honor to represent the student members of the Arkansas Athletic Trainers’
Association,” Wheeler noted.
Andrew Roberson, a junior athletic training major from Conway, Ark., also was elected
to the student membership board. He will serve as the student organization’s parliamentarian.
“I hope to learn more about this profession and improve my opportunities to network
with others in this field,” Roberson said.
Logan Kucginski, a junior athletic training major from Mountain Home, Ark., will serve
as the university representative to the student board for this next academic year.
Approximately 17 athletic training majors from Ouachita joined other students and
professional members for the 24th annual meeting held April 24-25 at the Peabody Hotel in Little Rock.
“Our students represented the university well at the annual meeting,” said Dr. Terry
DeWitt, director of the program. “They were exposed to some of the best national speakers
in our field.”
Four athletic training majors will graduate May 8 during Ouachita’s spring 2010 commencement
ceremony.
