Miller to present junior voice recital at OBU Sept. 30

Ouachita Baptist University’s School of Fine Arts will present vocal major Andrew
Miller in his junior recital Friday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s
McBeth Recital Hall on Ouachita’s campus.
Miller, a native of Dalworthington Gardens, Texas, has performed in lead roles in
Ouachita’s opera productions of Gianni Schicchi, Don Giovanni and Alice in Wonderland. He has been a three-time award winner in Ouachita’s Shambarger Competition for Singers
and has been named a finalist in both the regional and state National Association
of Teachers of Singing (NATS) auditions. Miller has also been awarded a District Encouragement
Award at the Arkansas district Metropolitan Opera Auditions. He is a student of Dr.
Jon Secrest, OBU professor of music.
Miller will begin the recital with “Flow My Tears” by John Dowland, followed by Georges
Bizet’s “Berceuse” and “Auf dem Flusse” from Franz Schubert’s Winterreise. He will continue with “O Fair Enough are Sky and Plain” and “With Rue My Heart Is
Laden” from George Butterworth’s Bredon Hill and Other Songs. The concert will conclude with “Pensa chi geme” from G.F. Handel’s Alcina. He will be accompanied on the piano by Phyllis Walker.
