Ouachita’s Pruet School to host Pastors Conference Sept. 29

September 23, 2011 - Nicci Fillinger

The Ouachita Baptist University Pruet School of Christian Studies will host its annual Pastors Conference on Thursday, Sept. 29, in the Walker Conference Center on Ouachita’s campus. Ministers and church leaders from around the state are invited to attend to learn about current issues in Biblical scholarship related to the book of Ecclesiastes.

Speakers at this year’s event will include Dr. Danny Hays, dean of the Pruet School of Christian Studies, and Dr. Doug Nykolaishen, associate professor of Biblical studies. Dr. Rob Hewell, associate professor of music and director of OBU’s worship studies program, will lead worship. Ouachita President Rex Horne will present the opening welcome.

The conference theme is “Ecclesiastes – The Pursuit: Chasing Answers to Life’s Questions,” which coincides with the book of the Bible chosen to be the focus for the Winter Bible Study of the Southern Baptist Convention. “Many churches will have a weeklong evening Bible study series or perhaps a multi-week Sunday evening series to cover the selected book,” Hays explained.

Ministers who attend the conference will receive continental breakfast as well as lunch, providing the opportunity to fellowship with other ministers and to purchase books authored by the Pruet School of Christian Studies faculty.

The deadline for registration is 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 26, and the registration fee is $40 per person.

For more information about the conference or local accommodations, contact Tracey Knight, administrative assistant to the dean of the Pruet School of Christian Studies, at [email protected] or (870) 245-5599.
