Ouachita to host Tiger Monday Feb. 20 and Spring Preview Day Feb. 25

February 15, 2012 - Breanne Goodrum

Ouachita Baptist University’s Office of Admissions Counseling will welcome prospective students and their families to campus for Tiger Monday on Feb. 20, and for Spring Preview Day the following Saturday, Feb. 25.

“At Tiger Day you get to attend a class and be on campus during school hours,” said Lori Motl, Ouachita’s director of admissions counseling. “That is when is campus is most alive, especially to visitors.”

Tiger Monday will open with registration at Young Auditorium in Hickingbotham Hall from 8:30-9 a.m. The 9 a.m. opening session will introduce guests to the university as well as their admissions counselors. Immediately following introductions, there will be an opportunity for students to meet with OBU’s academic deans.

At 10 a.m., students will have the opportunity to attend a class of their choosing and tour campus. Parents will also have the opportunity to tour the campus and are invited to a question and answer session with administrators in Berry Chapel. Visitors are invited to eat lunch in the Alumni Room of the Ouachita Commons at noon, followed by a tour of Ouachita’s residence halls to end the day.

The following Saturday, Feb. 25, offers similar opportunities to visiting students with Preview Day.

“Preview Day is important because students get the opportunity to see campus and meet with academic deans,” Motl said. “They also get to see a Tiger basketball game, which I love.”

Preview Day will begin in Jones Performing Arts Center with registration from 9:30-10 a.m. The opening session at 10 a.m. will give prospective students and their families the opportunity to visit with Susan Hurst, OBU’s director of student financial services, as well as Ouachita alumni and admissions counselors.

After the opening sessions, students are given the opportunity to meet with Ouachita’s academic deans. Immediately following, admissions counselors and members of the Ouachita Student Foundation will lead campus tours and then visitors are invited to lunch in the Ouachita Commons Alumni Room at 12:30 p.m.

Later in the afternoon visitors are invited as guests of the university to watch the Tiger and Lady Tiger basketball teams take on the University of Arkansas-Monticello at Bill Vining Arena beginning at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Guests are also invited to the Miss OBU Pageant taking place in Jones Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. that evening. Guests are welcome to attend as many of these events as their schedules allow.
