OBU Division of Music to host Polk and Whitehead in student recitals March 30

Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host LeeAnne Polk and Garrett
Whitehead in their sophomore flute and musical theatre recitals March 30 at 2 p.m.
The recitals, which are free and open to the public, will be held in Mabee Fine Arts
Center’s McBeth Recital Hall.
Polk, a native of Greenville, Texas, will begin her flute recital with the third and
fourth movements, “Adagio” and “Minuetto I and II,” from J.S. Bach’s “Sonata No. 4
in C Major.” She will then perform “Reverie et Petite Valse” by André Caplet. Her
recital will conclude with “Scherzo,” the second movement from Robert Muczynski’s
“Sonata for Flute and Piano Op. 14.” Polk will be accompanied by Louis Menendez.
Whitehead, a musical theatre major from Cleburne, Texas, is a member of Theta Alpha
Phi national theatre honors fraternity. His recital will begin with Richard Adler
and Jenny Ross’ “A New Town Is a Blue Town” from Pajama Game. He will then perform a scene from Scott McPherson’s Marvin’s Room, followed by Stephen Schwartz’s “Dancing Through Life” from Wicked. His recital will conclude with Andrew Lippa’s “Crazier than You” from The Addams Family. Whitehead will be accompanied by Susan Monroe.
