Ouachita Career Services to host Graduate & Professional School Fair Sept. 25
September 18, 2013 - Kaitie Scott
Ouachita Baptist University Career Services will host a Graduate and Professional
School Fair on Sept. 25 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Evans Student Center. There will
be more than 20 graduate and professional schools from Arkansas, Texas and other states
represented at the event.
“There are a lot of built-in benefits to grad school,” said Lauren Land, director
of Ouachita Career Services. “If you’re thinking about it, go!”
Career Services provides this event as an opportunity for students to casually visit
with different grad schools in which they have expressed interest. Land surveyed students
to help form the list of schools invited to attend.
“It’s a good opportunity to ask questions,” Land said. Not only will students have
the opportunity to discuss grad school face-to-face with the university representatives,
but also to explore other available options.
The schools “are going to be really honest and open to help students figure some things
out,” Land said. The fair will allow students to think about the options they have
and help them to start planning ahead.
It is an opportunity that even freshman and sophomores can take advantage of by exploring
their options, Land noted. It will provide them enough time to plan ahead for application
deadlines, future tests, financial aid and work opportunities.
“If you’re a senior it’s still not too late,” Land said. “There are definitely options.”
Schools and organizations to be represented include: Arkansas Department of Education,
Arkansas State National Guard/Army ROTC, Arkansas State University, Baptist Health
Schools (Little Rock, Ark.), Baylor School of Law, Christian Brothers University –
Physician Assistant Studies, Cleveland Chiropractic College, Criswell College, Dallas
Baptist University, East Texas Baptist University, Harding University – Education
and Physician Assistant Programs, Henderson State University, John Brown University,
Kaplan Test Prep, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, UALR Bowen School of Law,
University of Arkansas’s Clinton School of Public Service, University of Arkansas
for Medical Sciences (UAMS), UAMS Boozman College of Public Health, University of
