Ouachita to host Craig Martin in senior art exhibit March 2-17
February 20, 2015 - OBU News Bureau
Ouachita Baptist University’s School of Fine Arts will host Craig Martin in his senior
art exhibit March 2-17 in Moses-Provine Hall’s Rosemary Gossett Adams Gallery. The
exhibit is free and open to the public. A reception also will be held in Adams Gallery
at 6 p.m. on March 12.
Martin, a senior graphic design major from Harare, Zimbabwe, will exhibit a diverse
range of work he has created since arriving at Ouachita. The work presented will consist
of a combination of graphic design and studio art pieces, including oils, graphite
and scratchboard among other media.
“I have had the opportunity to explore a wide range of media beyond the basics that
I came to Ouachita with,” Martin said. “I hope this exhibit is a successful testimony
to how I have grown and diversified as an artist since coming to Ouachita.”
Martin said he receives most of his inspiration and subject matter from his exposure
to wildlife while growing up in Zimbabwe. He hopes to use his artistic talent with
his passion for wildlife and wilderness conservation to raise awareness and funds
to support conservation in Africa in the future.
“I look forward to sharing my work and giving people a glimpse into some of the lessons
I have learned during my time here,” Martin said. “I hope this is the first of many
shows to come!”
Regular gallery hours for the exhibit are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For
more information, contact the School of Fine Arts at (870) 245-5129.
