Courtney Stanage to present senior piano recital April 13 at Ouachita

April 07, 2015 - OBU News Bureau

CSOuachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host Courtney Stanage in her senior piano recital on Monday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. The performance will be held in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s McBeth Recital Hall on Ouachita’s campus and is free and open to the public.

“This senior recital is something that I have been working toward for almost a year now and I believe that my hard work will definitely pay off,” said Stanage, a senior piano performance major from Hot Springs Vilage, Ark. “I have five wonderful pieces on my program and am excited that I will finally be able to share them with an audience. My hope for this recital is that I will be able to demonstrate the growth of my musicianship that has developed over these past four years at Ouachita.”

Stanage has been a recipient of Ouachita’s Friends of Fine Arts Award as well as piano scholarships from the Hot Springs Village Symphony Guild, the Hot Springs Music Club and the Little Rock Musical Coterie. She has earned second place in Ouachita’s Virginia Queen Piano Competition, is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda national music honor society and has been named to the OBU Dean’s and President’s Lists.

The recital will include the following selections: “Sinfonia” from Johan Sebastian Bach’s “Partita No. 2 in C Minor”; “Pavane pour une Infante Défunte” by Maurice Ravel; “Reminiscences” and “Suggestion Díabolique” from Sergei Prokofiev’s “Four Pieces, Op. 4”; “Allegre con brio” from Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Conerto No. 1 in C Major, Op. 15”; and “Capriccio in F-sharp Minor,” “Intermezzo in A Minor” and “Capriccio in C-sharp Minor” from Johannes Brahms’ “Acht Klavierstücke, Op. 76.”
