Diane Runyan, administrative assistant at Ouachita Baptist University’s Ben M. Elrod
Center for Family and Community, was recently honored as the university’s 2015 Support
Staff Member of the Year.
“What a joy and blessing it is to receive this year’s University Support Staff Member
Award,” Runyan said. “I am overwhelmed with emotion and immense gratitude for the
opportunity to work at OBU and the Elrod Center. I thank God for placing me here and
for the amazing people that I work for and with.
“Thank you for entrusting me with this honor,” Runyan added. “This has been a year
of new horizons for our campus and also for me. I pray I will live up to its expectations.”
Runyan has worked at the Elrod Center for 10 years and was nominated by her coworkers.
Each fall, faculty and staff members are invited to nominate candidates for the award.
The Staff Development Committee then reviews the nominations and makes a recommendation
to Ouachita President Rex Horne, who makes the final decision.
“Diane is a wonderful example of someone who works at the Elrod Center because she
believes it allows her to fulfill her calling in life,” said Ian Cosh, OBU’s vice
president for community and international engagement and director of the Elrod Center.
“She genuinely loves to serve others and it clearly brings great joy to her to do
so.
“One of Diane’s great qualities is that she is thoughtful and diligent in her work,”
Cosh added. “She works energetically, takes her work seriously and is totally dependable
and professional in all that she undertakes to do.”
