Atkinson to present sophomore musical theatre recital at Ouachita March 4

Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host Esther Atkinson in her sophomore musical theatre recital Friday, March 4, at 11 a.m. The recital will be held in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s McBeth Recital Hall and is free and open to the public.

Atkinson, a sophomore musical theatre major from Rogers, Ark., participated in the regional and state levels of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition her freshman and sophomore years. She placed first in the freshman women division at regional and state levels of NATS and first in the lower college music theatre women division at state NATS. She earned first place in both the sophomore women division and the lower college music theatre women division at regional NATS. She was also a Musical Theater Initiative nominee.

Atkinson’s recital will include the following selections: Gioachino Rossini’s “Cruda Sorte” from L’italiana in Algeri, Vincent D’indy’s “Lied Maritime,” Johannes Brahms’ “Vergebliches Ständchen,” Stephen Schwartz’s “In Whatever Time We Have” from Children of Eden and Wayne and Karey Kirkpatrick’s “Right Hand Man” from Something Rotten!
