April 20, 2016 - Ali Robinson
Ouachita Baptist University’s School of Fine Arts will host the senior art exhibit
of Abbey Fowler, a senior graphic design, mass communications and French triple major
from Arkadelphia, Ark., from April 25-May 14 in Hammons Gallery, located in OBU’s
Mabee Fine Arts Center. The exhibit is free and open to the public. A reception also
will be held Friday, April 29, at 7 p.m.
Fowler’s exhibit, titled “Association,” will showcase an array of works inspired by
the various interests in which she was involved throughout her years at Ouachita.
The exhibit will focus heavily on graphic design, but also will include photography,
watercolor, pen and ink, pastel, fashion design, woodwork and floral arranging.
“Through the multiple facets I have focused on during my time at Ouachita, I've pulled
from multiple thought processes and styles to enhance my design work,” Fowler said.
The exhibit also will allow visitors to understand the artwork on a deeper level by
giving them an interactive experience.
“I believe mixing art with music is a wonderful way to enhance the pieces,” Fowler
explained. “In this exhibit, my designs are enhanced with music associations to combine
the senses of sight and sound.”
Fowler said that her time at Ouachita has had a great impact on her development as
an artist. “I have worked very hard on all of the pieces exhibited and love each of
them,” she said.
Regular Hammons Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information,
