Ouachita to host senior art exhibit by Lauren Teague Nov. 1-15

Ouachita to host senior art exhibit by Lauren Teague Nov. 1-15.November 02, 2016 - Sarah Davis

Ouachita Baptist University’s Rosemary Adams Department of Art and Design will host Lauren Teague in her senior art exhibit, “Converge.” The exhibit will be on display in Moses-Provine Hall’s Rosemary Gossett Adams Gallery from Nov. 1-15. A reception will be held Saturday, Nov. 5 at 3 p.m.

Teague is a senior graphic design major from Jonesboro, Ark. She describes her work as either bright and full of color or dark and twisted. For her senior show, Teague wanted to portray the two extremes as a spectrum.

“On one side of the exhibit, there are various projects represented in a grey scale, the other side is the same type of projects but in full color,” Teague said. “The pieces themselves will represent the full area of graphic design from logos, business packages, T-shirts, wedding invites, magazine covers and paintings.”

The pieces have been worked on continually over the past couple of years at Ouachita. The exhibit will show how far Teague has evolved with her art. She said she has taken the feedback, the praises and the critiques, throughout her time at Ouachita to produce her senior exhibit, which she describes as, “visually pleasing and unexpected.”

“My audience can expect to see a lot of different elements in order to keep their attention, which I believe is the most important thing in regards to showing off work,” Teague said. “I hope that people will walk away from the exhibit understanding the full range of art and graphic design.”

The exhibit can be viewed during regular Adams Gallery hours, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, contact OBU’s School of Fine Arts at (870) 245-5129.
