Ouachita names Angie Schleiff Support Staff Member of the Year

Angie Schleiff, human resources and work-study payroll specialist, was named Ouachita Baptist University’s 2026 Support Staff Member of the Year. Schleiff received the award from Dr. Ben Sells, Ouachita president, during the yearly Support Staff Outing held on April 1.

The award is presented annually to a campus support staff member who demonstrates excellence in work responsibilities, support for the university’s mission and positive engagement with students, coworkers and members of the public.

“Angie is really the heart of our office,” Jana Hardage, director of human resources, said. “She is the first face anyone sees and is often the first voice anyone hears on our main phone line. She manages onboarding for most of our new hires, setting the tone for a new employee’s experience at Ouachita. Angie also handles offboarding, so she truly walks through with people from beginning to end, and everywhere in between. 

Schleiff has served in various roles at Ouachita since October 2016. She worked in the Office of Admissions Counseling as the campus visit coordinator for four years. Then, she transitioned to the role of admissions counselor, recruiting graduate students and online undergraduate students. In the fall of 2024, Schleiff moved to her current position in the Office of Human Resources.

“In this role, I really enjoy serving all faculty, staff and work-study students,” Schleiff said. “I’ve loved all of the different positions I’ve held as an employee of Ouachita.”

The Support Staff Member of the Year Award began in 2001 to honor those who often serve the university behind the scenes, making Schleiff the 26th recipient. The winner receives a plaque, a reserved parking spot on campus and a cash prize.

“Angie’s servant heart is a direct reflection of her faith and makes her contributions to our team — and to Ouachita as a whole — a true blessing,” said Hardage.
