TOM BURRITT PERFORMS WITH OBU PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE Dr. Tom Burritt (University of Texas-Austin) was on campus in November and performed with the OBU Percussion Ensemble. Dr. Burritt performed solo marimba on The Alabados Song by Paul Bissell and solo xylophone on Valse Brillante by George Hamilton Green. Dr. Burritt received degrees from Ithaca College, Kent State University, and Northwestern University and has a terrific reputation for performing chamber music and solo percussion music. Dr. Burritt has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Stevens Marimba Seminar, and the Zeltsman Marimba Festival. Dr. Burritt's clinic is made possible by support from the OBU School of Fine Arts, Majestic Percussion, Sabian Cymbals, Innovative Percussion, Remo, Beetle Percussion, and Grover Pro Percussion.
OBU STEEL BAND SPRING TOUR The OBU Steel Band, Tiger Steel, will go on the road for a performance tour in March to perform at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, and at northwest Arkansas high schools. On previous tours, Tiger Steel has performed at Disney World, Universal Studios Orlando, and with the Sforzata Steel Orchestra in Trinidad and Tobago—the birthplace of the steel pan. |
